Director and Occupational Therapist
Ailsa qualiﬁed as an Occupational Therapist (OT) in 1986 from St Andrews School of Occupational Therapy in Northampton. She worked in the NHS in the ﬁeld of adult physical medicine and specialised in the field of neurology and the treatment of people who have suffered a stroke.
In 1999, along with Bev, she set up an independent OT practice providing assessments and reports for various organisations and individuals. Ailsa has gained experience in wheelchair provision, seating assessments as well as carrying out assessments and reports for insurance companies, case managers, housing associations and charities.
Through carrying out work for the NHS and social services Ailsa maintains her clinical skills and updates her knowledge of what is happening with in the OT profession. She is a member of COTSSIP (Occupational Therapists in Independent practice) and Posture and Mobility Group and continually updates her knowledge and skills through continual professional development (CPD).
Director and Occupational Therapist
Bev qualiﬁed as an Occupational Therapist in 1989. She worked in the NHS for 11 years primarily in the ﬁeld of adult disability developing a special interest in orthopaedics, rheumatology and hand therapy. In 1999 Bev set up an independent Occupational Therapy practice with Ailsa providing assessments and reports for solicitors, insurance companies and charities and housing associations. Bev is a rehabilitation case manager for The Rehabilitation Network and provides locum services to the NHS, Social Services and hospice, as required.
RKS was developed in 2008, as an extension to the existing business, with the intention of providing an accessible service from OT assessment through to the provision of relevant equipment and adaptations. Bev has a high level of expertise and interest in seating and posture, having had an extensive experience as both Occupational Therapist and equipment supplier in the provision of specialist seating, manual and powered wheelchairs.
Bev is a member of the British Association of Occupational Therapists, College of OT specialist section for Independent OTs, BHTA, and Posture and Mobility Group. She engages in regular CPD activity to maintain professional standards and to ensure the business remains innovative and progressive.
Les has many years of experience working in the disability equipment industry and has worked both in sales and the servicing over the years. He has an excellent knowledge of products and can help you decide which products best meet your needs.
Les oversees the assessment and support of our Motability customers and will often arrange a visit to your home to ensure suitability of product.
Les is supported by the Occupational Therapists who will regularly assist with more complex clinical assessments.
Therapy and Sales Assistant
Zoe is likely to be the first person you speak to or meet in the shop. She has many years of experience in retail and is always keen to assist you in finding the right product. Zoe is supported by the Occupational Therapists who can assist if your needs are more specialised.
Zoe is our site First Aider.
Adam is a highly experienced mobility engineer having worked in the industry for over 12 years. His field of expertise is in the repair and adaptation of powered and manual wheelchairs. Adam is able to service equipment in your home but has the facility of a well-equipped workshop where more complex issues can be dealt with efficiently.
Adam has received training from Invacare, Sunrise Medical, P&G Controls, Dynamic Controls and MK batteries receiving regular updates, as required. He is also qualified to PAT test your electronic equipment.
Todd is our newest member of the team, primarily supporting the service department. He has many years of experience working in the cycle industry and is Level 2 Cytec trained. Todd is a whizz with computers, has expertise in electronic problem solving and consequently enhances the high standard of service already provided by the team at RKS. Outside work Todd enjoys biking activities including the organisation of competitions. He is also a very competent ‘drone pilot’ and able to take fabulous aerial photography and videography. Unfortunately, all of this fresh air leads to an insatiable appetite and Todd is never far from a bag of Doritos or a pot of yoghurt!!!
